 Geology Low cliff formed by the Main Limestone, springs rise from sandstone strata below the cliff. From SD87759641 to SD87839660

 Record Description Well vegetated cliffs (Scars) located on the west bank and at the top of the ravine above the uppermost reaches of Cliff Beck below the Buttertubs. The uppermost Scar (LR Site 2, see species list below in the Additional Notes) has just rowan and juniper but the lower scar (LR Site 3) has a more varied Limestone Ashwood community with ash,bird cherry, hazel,occasional juniper and wych elm at the altitudinal limit for this tree in Swaledale. The junipers all show signs of distress, probably from the effects of rabbit damage. See the photo of a distressed juniper at SD 87589 96174. 442m. Buttertubs Scars….
