Record Name | SWAAG in Eden. Part Five. Burial mounds on Moor Divock. |
Record Description | This record is a photographic record the recent visit by SWAAG Members to Moor Divock where there are very many burial mounds of various dimensions, all are probably of Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age date. These burial monuments are associated with small stone rows, standing stone, ring cairns and three recently recognised burnt mounds. The more prominent of these mounds have been excavated generally during the 19C when recording was poor or non existent. At least two of the burial mounds contain recognisable stone cists, long emptied of their contents.
The whole area is Scheduled as of significant archaeological landscape importance. |
