| Record Description | This area of open woodland with mature scots pine, larch, beech, downy birch and oak shows what could be achieved on the fringes of heather grouse moor by open-spaced (not massed as so often the case today) planting excluding hawthorn. This planting, while not intended to imitate native woodland or feed black grouse, certainly enhances the landscape.
The plantation and fine trees can be enjoyed from the unfenced road to Sleightholme. |
