Record Description | Two large alder pollards, an outlier of the larger alder wood at West Arngill (recorded seperately.
These two ancient trees were managed, their branch wood cut at regular intervals possibly as a source for charcoal burning since alderwood produces the best charcoal for the manufacture of gunpowder.
