Some last-minute surprises
Day thirteen was a drier and more productive day, helped along by some delicious scones. Thank-you Hilary!
Area 2 turned out to contain a stone-lined pit with some more chunky pieces of Huntcliffe ware and also some bone. Environmental samples have been taken from within the pit. In Area Three the students found a lovely stone spindle-whorl and a small piece of Samian
Area 4 continues to surprise, with a raised plinth surrounded by limestone cobbles. Two chunks of daub also suggest a lost structure here.
After close of play we assembled at the Bike Centre for a delicious barbecue.
