Day Six: Substantial progress and an apology
First of all, may I apologise to Mick Coates who supervised the site over the weekend, for getting his name wrong in the blog yesterday; this has now been corrected. A day of solid work today and substantial progress was made: all credit to the cheerful diggers for their efforts. Finds included two more nice flints, a blade and a scraper, also a chunk of galena.
The extent of the civil engineering on this site can be seen below, with a large area of flagged yard. There is also a photo of the quern stone found yesterday along with two stone "eggs" lying beneath. The door sill was first uncovered in the 2013 excavation. Is it in its original position or was it reused when the area was paved?
