Day Three
Baking hot on-site today. Area One continues to be a massive earth-shifting exercise and the trench is exposing more of the paved yard. Area two is also revealing further stout paving and our first finds of pot; a handful of small sherds, perhaps local origin. The Newcastle team are making good progress trowelling Area Three and a further exploratory trench on top of the mound to the North, reveals an interesting stone feature incorporating crinoidal limestone edging and large flagstones.
