Day Four: Gorgeous weather and a special visitor
It is always lovely when a friend comes to visit and especially nice when she brings you your favourite treat! SWAAG were delighted to welcome the very talented Eniko Hudak on-site today. She is a Roman pottery specialist working with Pre-Construct Archaeology in Durham and has been kind enough to present some excellent workshops for members. She was very impressed with The Hagg site and kindly had a look at our pottery finds for us. She also brought us some fig rolls! You can follow her on Twitter: @sherdnerdE
Wonderful weather today and some fine views down Swaledale. Diggers were hard at work all day, under the expert guidance of archaeologist Mick Taylor. Manpower was directed into trowelling back the exposed site, revealing a wealth of crinoidal limestone flags and collecting some interesting finds along the way. These included a nice flint scraper, ? an arrow head and some more sherds of Romano-British pottery.
